AXIOM MACHINERY — HAMILTON–NIAGARA

Coil Handling & Metal Forming Equipment for Hamilton–Niagara Manufacturers

Coil handling, industrial presses and heavy material-handling equipment for steel processors, fabricators and manufacturers across Hamilton and Niagara, Ontario.

Heavy material must move before production begins

Steel, sheet metal and heavy components move through Hamilton–Niagara every day. Manufacturers, service centres, metal processors and fabricators must receive, transport, position and prepare heavy material for production while moving tooling safely between storage, maintenance and machinery.

Axiom Machinery supplies equipment throughout Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Burlington, St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Falls and the surrounding manufacturing corridor. Through MetalPress Machinery, we provide coil handling, industrial presses and die-handling systems engineered around the material, process and plant layout.

A manufacturing corridor built around metal

Hamilton’s Bayfront remains a major steel, heavy-industry, transportation and port hub. Niagara extends the corridor through transportation equipment, fabricated-metal products, machinery and advanced manufacturing.

The common challenge is moving heavy material through production efficiently. Hamilton applications often centre on steel, coils and heavy loads, while manufacturers in St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Falls and surrounding communities may place more emphasis on component forming, fabrication, machinery, heavy assembly and automation.

Hamilton & Stoney Creek

Steel processing, ports, service centres, heavy industry, coil movement and high-force metal forming.

Burlington & Grimsby

Fabrication, machinery, industrial components and facilities connected to the western Golden Horseshoe.

Niagara corridor

Transportation equipment, fabricated metals, machinery, heavy assembly and advanced manufacturing.

From incoming coil to production

For companies processing sheet steel or aluminum, production may begin with a coil weighing several tons. Before reaching a press, roll former, slitter or other machine, the coil may need to be received, transported, stored, rotated, positioned and loaded.

A coil arriving with its eye in one orientation may need a 90-degree rotation. Coils may travel between receiving, storage, preparation and production. Dedicated handling equipment makes these steps part of a controlled process instead of relying on improvised methods.

Receive

Confirm coil weight, dimensions, orientation and unloading method.

Transport

Move coils between receiving, storage, preparation and the production line.

Rotate

Change eye orientation safely before storage or processing.

Position

Align the coil with the next handling or production stage.

Load

Transfer material into the press, roll former, slitter or feeder.

Coil handling equipment for heavy material

MCT Series coil tippers

MetalPress MCT Series coil tippers rotate heavy coils between horizontal and vertical orientations for service centres, stampers, coil processors, roll-forming operations, tube and pipe manufacturers, automotive suppliers and sheet-metal facilities.

Selection should account for maximum weight, outside and inside diameter, width, starting and final orientation, loading method and available floor space.

Coil transport equipment

Coil transfer systems move heavy material between receiving, storage, preparation and production. Specify the system around the heaviest coil, travel distance, movement frequency, route, loading method, machinery alignment, floor conditions and the required level of operator or automated control.

When the coil reaches the press

Once material is prepared and positioned, the challenge becomes forming control. Heavy-gauge sheet, structural components and other metal parts may require significant force with controlled slide movement throughout the stroke.

MetalPress industrial presses can be configured around material, part dimensions, forming operation, tonnage, tool size, stroke, daylight, production rate and automation.

Hydraulic presses

High-force equipment for forming, assembly and general production applications.

Servo-hydraulic presses

Hydraulic forming force with programmable approach, forming speed, force or position, dwell and return.

Servo-electric presses

Electrically driven programmable motion for applications requiring precision and repeatability.

Heavy fabrication also requires heavy tooling

Production dies follow their own workflow from the press through changeover, transfer, maintenance, inspection, storage and return to production. For plants using large dies, the efficiency of this tooling route directly affects machine availability.

Die transfer carts

Move heavy dies and molds between machinery, maintenance and storage based on weight, dimensions, loading height, distance and floor conditions.

Die upenders

Provide controlled 90-degree rotation between production, maintenance and storage orientations.

Die splitters and testers

Open and manipulate tooling for inspection, repair, testing and maintenance work.

Follow the material through the facility

Evaluating the complete material and tooling flow connects individual machines into a production strategy.

1. Material arrives

Coil transport equipment moves heavy coils or metal stock into storage or preparation.

2. Material is reoriented

A coil tipper changes eye orientation for storage or production.

3. Material enters production

A hydraulic or servo-hydraulic press forms sheet, plate or another metal component.

4. Tooling is changed

A die transfer cart moves the next tool between storage and the press.

5. Tooling is maintained

A die upender or splitter repositions and opens the tool for inspection or repair.

Standard machine or custom configuration?

Heavy equipment cannot always be selected by capacity alone. Two facilities handling a 20-ton coil may need different machines because of coil diameter, loading method, required rotation, automated transfer or available space. Presses and die-handling systems vary for the same reason.

Axiom Machinery reviews the complete application so the machine configuration reflects what happens on the plant floor.

Coil handling projects

Maximum weight, diameter range, width, coil ID, starting and final orientation, loading method and required movement.

Press projects

Material, part drawing, forming operation, force, tool size, stroke, daylight, production rate and automation.

Die handling projects

Tool weight and dimensions, orientation, press loading height, transfer distance and current handling method.

Aluminum processing in Hamilton–Niagara

Dynamo Furnaces

Steel and fabricated-metal processing remain the page’s primary focus, but some manufacturers also cast, machine or recycle aluminum. Dynamo Furnaces provides systems for aluminum component production, die casting, internal scrap remelting, machining-chip recovery, centralized melting and metal holding.

Furnace technology should be selected around the material entering the furnace. Dense ingot, gates and risers, lightweight chips and mixed scrap can require very different melting approaches.

Serving the Hamilton–Niagara manufacturing corridor

Axiom Machinery supports manufacturers in Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Burlington, Grimsby, St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Falls and surrounding Southern Ontario communities. These locations form a connected steel, metal-processing, fabrication and advanced-manufacturing corridor.

MetalPress Machinery

Coil tippers, transfer carts, industrial presses, die transfer equipment, upenders and custom heavy-load handling systems.

Dynamo Furnaces

Planning a heavy manufacturing equipment project?

Start with the material. Tell us what you are handling, how heavy it is, where it must move, what happens during production and which equipment comes before and after the process. We can help determine whether the application requires a coil tipper, transfer system, industrial press, die-handling machine or customized solution.
